Opportunity Description

The Afghan Crisis Scholarship (ACS) is a one-time, single full tuition scholarship for a two-year program of graduate study in the MS in Global Affairs or the MS in Global Security, Conflict, and Cyber, to begin in Fall 2022, in response to the August 2021 emergency evacuation of tens of thousands of Afghans.

Eligibility Criteria:
  • This Scholarship is available to an Afghan evacuee whose graduate studies in international relations/global affairs have been disrupted by the Taliban takeover or would be impossible to pursue under the Taliban administration.
  • Applicants from Afghanistan who have been rejected or expect to be denied advanced study options due to their gender, marital status, ethnicity, religious confession, or other characteristics are urged to apply.
  • Applicants must have been accepted into one of the Center for Global Affairs’ master’s degree programs and must meet NYU’s academic and English language requirements.
Requirements for Master’s program application:
  • Applicants must provide a course-by-course review of all transcripts, which compares and grades to equivalence in the United States.

  • TOEFL (100) or IELTS (7.0) test scores

Applicants must additionally complete the Google application form specifically for ACS applicants in order to be considered for the Afghan Crisis Scholarship.

Application Fee Waiver Request:

Graduate applicants for the ACS are also eligible for a fee waiver on their application. Requests for fee waivers must be made in advance of the graduate application deadline by emailing the address below.
